Watch The Hummer EV Crabwalk Its Way Through The Snow

Before customer deliveries of the Hummer EV start this fall, GMC has been putting the electric pickup through its paces in the snow and releasing videos of this extreme testing.

Last month, GMC showed the Hummer EV Pickup performing some gratuitous “powdered” donuts while testing in the snow, demonstrating the electric pickup’s agility. As testing continues, GMC has released another video showing the Hummer EV’s CrabWalk mode and four-wheel steering in action. CrabWalk enables the Hummer EV to drive diagonally by turning the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels up to ten degrees at low speeds, making it easier to navigate through tight spaces.

In the video, four-wheel steering is also activated to improve the electric truck’s turning circle as the Hummer EV dances in the snow. Looks like the driver was having a lot of fun during this test session.

These aren’t the only off-roading features that will be available either, as the Hummer EV’s air suspension can raise the ride height by up to six inches for extra ground clearance. Like the model we saw in the last video, the Hummer EV shown is a pre-production test vehicle with missing trim that will be added to the production model.

Initially, the new Hummer EV will be available with three electric motors producing a combined 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. All that power is sent to all four wheels, enabling the Hummer EV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just three seconds.

GMC claims this variant will have an electric range of 350 miles, while fast charging will add 100 miles to the driving range in just ten minutes. Pricing for the 2022 Hummer EV Pickup starts at $79,995, with deliveries starting this fall. An entry-level model with two electric motors will then launch in 2023, but we’re still waiting for GMC to confirm the power and range details.
