This 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Is Nearly Brand New

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. What you’re looking at is literally a brand-new 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10, the street-racing truck with the third-generation Viper-sourced V10 engine. Built in limited numbers from 2004 until 2006, this example currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer has only 949 miles on the clock. Finished in Inferno Crystal Pearl over Medium Slate Gray leather, it’s completely stock and still in perfect showroom condition.

Under its hood lies a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V10 paired to a six-speed manual with a Hurst shifter. Total output comes to 500 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque, with all of that power routed to the rear wheels. It’s not exactly a direct ancestor to today’s Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 TRX off-road animal, but it’s probably the closest thing to it in regards to stuffing a massively powerful engine under a truck’s hood.

This Regular Cab example (a Quad Cab was also available) also features a limited-slip differential, body-colored tonneau cover, rear spoiler, and slick-looking Viper-style 22-inch polished wheels. The interior is equipped with heated sports seats, power-adjustable aluminum pedals, push-button start, an Infinity audio system with an in-dash CD changer, navigation, and plenty of SRT-10 badges. And yes, there’s a 160-mph speedometer to tempt drivers.

Just about any vehicle with a Viper engine is going to have pretty darn awful fuel economy, and this truck doesn’t disappoint. The EPA gave it a wonderfully horrible 9/15 mpg city/highway rating. But it’s also pretty fast with a quarter-mile time clocked at 13.6 seconds at 106 mph.

The Ram SRT-10 was definitely one of the craziest creations to come out of the now-defunct SRT division and it wasn’t the cheapest thing when it went on sale.

This specific example, according to the included window sticker, originally cost $51,385. With inflation, that’s roughly $67,000 today. To compare, a new Ram TRX carries a $69,950 starting price. Thing is, the bidding war appears to have already started. As of this writing, the highest bid reached $55,000 and it’s definitely going to climb because the auction won’t conclude until next Tuesday.
