Fiat has been struggling in the US of late, and the news that the brand would be dropping the 500L and excellent Fiat 124 Spider comes as sad news, but its cars just aren’t selling. If only Fiat could bring the 500 Abarth to US shores, but alas, this is wishful thinking. There is some good news, however; a healthy vintage Fiat scene in North America means that exotic models pop up for sale every now and then, case in point being this cute 1969 Fiat 500 Jolly Conversion. This is the perfect summer toy for those looking to score points with hip Westcoast chicks.

This little Fiat 500 was converted to look like the Jolly edition car custom manufactured by Carrozzeria Ghia back in the 60s and 70s. These little cars feature an open-air, doorless driving experience and also sport a set of trademark wicker seats and a fabric canopy. The seller purchased this vehicle straight from Rome (where else?) in 2019 and has since seen major refurbishment. The exterior has seen a splash of new red, the brake system has been redone, and the twin-cylinder engine was rebuilt and bored out to 595cc. Power is now sent through a synchronized four-speed manual transaxle sourced from a Fiat 126.

The little 500 rolls on a set of 12-inch silver-painted steel wheels and add some bling with a set of bullet-style wing mirrors.

The interior has also been completely refreshed with a set of iconic wicket seats and fresh floor mats, as well as a new steering wheel and passenger grab handle that has been finished in tan leather. According to the seller, all the electricals work just fine.

This Jolly little Italian is offered in New Jersey (someone please get it outta there) with importation documents and a Vermont registration document. The current bid stands at $19,690, and the auction ends in four days.
