It’s even cheaper than the Tesla Cybertruck.

With the upcoming launches of the Rivian R1T, Tesla Cybertruck, Lordstown Endurance, GMC Hummer EV Pickup, and the electric Ford F-150, the electric pickup truck segment is about to get very crowded. Many of these trucks start at around $70,000, so they aren’t exactly affordable. Enter the Wolf, a new compact electric pickup by Alpha Motors.

After revealing the retro-style Ace coupe and the Jax crossover, the California-based company is making its first foray into the world of electric pickup trucks. With a starting price of $36,000, the Wolf is the most affordable electric pickup yet and is even cheaper than the Tesla Cybertruck. Adding tax incentives could reduce the price to less than $30,000.

Measuring around 188 inches long, 76 inches wide, and 66 inches high, the Wolf is considerably smaller than the competition and has a bed measuring 65 inches long, 59 inches width, and 16 inches deep to provide 34.5 cubic feet of storage.

Alpha Motor Corporation intends to supply the truck with a 75 to 85 kWh lithium-ion battery with an estimated 275 miles of range. It will also be available in four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds, and have a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds. In contrast to the Cybertruck’s futuristic wedge-shaped styling and stainless-steel body, the Alpha Wolf’s has a decidedly old-school design evoking pickups from the past.

Shown in a SF Blue finish inspired by the sky in San Francisco, the Wolf adopts a simple single-cab layout with a square front end incorporating the same round LED headlights as the Jax. Flared wheel arches, a front-mounted bull bar, roof-mounted lights, and a rollbar also give the electric pickup a rugged appearance, while the underbody protection makes it ready for off-road adventuring.

Inside, there’s room for two occupants. Unlike the exterior, the cabin looks modern and is appointed with an abundance of tech including a digital instrument cluster and a central portrait display. Customer deliveries for the Alpha Wolf are planned for 2023. Hopefully, it won’t be too long until Alpha can show off a working prototype.
