  3. Porsche 911 GT3 RS Spotted On Public Roads

In the Dark Forest of Germany.

Whenever Porsche announces a new RS model, the automotive world sits up and pays close attention. The Porsche 911 is the benchmark for most other sports car manufacturers, and its RS models are not only respected, but feared. These hardcore machines are built for track racing, and the latest Porsche 911 GT3 RS is getting closer and closer to being finished. We’ve extensively covered this hardcore Porsche from winter testing sessions to discussions about its F1-inspired aero. This elusive vehicle has only been spotted a few times testing around the Nürburgring, but in this YouTube video posted by Automotive Mike, we get to see it carving through the roads of the Black Forest in Germany, and it looks and sounds glorious.

With the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 fresh from the factory, Porsche fans are already looking forward to the launch of the GT3 RS, and by the looks of this latest video, it’s close to completion. The video clearly shows off some of the big differences between the GT3 and the GT3 RS, including the massive dual-element rear wing with swan-neck struts, and from what we’ve seen before, we know that the RS will feature a more pronounced front splitter and a ton of additional vents. According to Automotive Mike, the prototype he filmed was wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 265/35R20 up front and what looks to be 325/30R21 at the rear. Behind the center-lock wheels hides a set of carbon ceramic brakes, and Porsche engineers are still hiding certain body features such as the side intake vents.

There is still quite a lot of speculation as to what engine will power this beast, but if the stunning exhaust note is anything to go by, we suspect it will come with a high-compression, naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder engine. In the new GT3, this engine produces 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque, but we expect to see numbers closer to the 580-hp mark. It’s good to see that the 911 GT3 RS is starting to venture out onto public roads, and just like a dirty city pigeon chick, it will soon spread its wings and terrorize sports cars of all description late in 2022.
