For a long time, it was the best-selling EV in the world.

At a glance, the Nissan Leaf isn’t the groundbreaking product it once was. There are now numerous new electric vehicles that mix impressive range with sexy style, with Nissan’s own Ariya crossover being a great example. But the Leaf’s achievements remain significant. It was the first mass-market EV and last year, the 500,000th Leaf was produced.

Following its recent 10th birthday, Nissan has introduced a new special edition of the Leaf in the UK to honor the occasion. It’s called the LEAF10 and comes with enhanced exterior detailing and the latest technologies. Nissan says that the LEAF10 “commemorates a successful decade of electric mobility while drawing inspiration from [the] Nissan Ariya”.

Outside, the LEAF10 is distinguished by a unique Kumiko pattern on the trunk lid, wing mirrors, and roofline. It is finished in either Pearl Black Metallic or the optional two-tone Ceramic Grey/Pearl Black. As standard, the LEAF10 rides on stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, while another neat touch is the LEAF10 badging on the C-pillar.

Inside, the special edition EV is offered with a Wi-Fi hotspot with 4G connectivity that can support as many as seven devices. Along with this, the NissanConnect Services smartphone app can be used to control various features remotely. For colder conditions, the LEAF10 can be pre-heated before each trip. Other features include the brand’s intelligent rearview mirror and an intelligent blind-spot intervention system.

“We hope that with its enhanced styling features and latest technologies such as in-car Wi-Fi and its remote functions including lock and unlock capabilities to receive packages; Leaf can continue to excite those who are just starting their EV journey,” said Helen Perry, the Chief Marketing Manager of Electric Passenger Cars & Infrastructure at Nissan Europe.

With Nissan chasing a goal of selling only EVs in ten years from now, the enduring Leaf must be appreciated for laying a strong foundation. In the UK, the LEAF10 launches this month at a price of £28,820 OTR (around $39,421).
