We also get a good look at the production bodywork.

The current Honda Civic is a peach of a car, but the next iteration of the compact sedan and hatchback is nearly upon us. Honda revealed the sedan in prototype form at the end of 2020, complete with its new grown-up face and sporty lines. However, the important word there is ‘prototype’. There will be changes, albeit likely only small ones, as it heads into production. But now, thanks to the CivicXI forum, we have an idea of what those changes may be. It appears these images were originally sourced from the Chinese Ministry of Industry, which has previously leaked images in a similar format.

When looking at these images, it’s worth remembering the Chinese market models tend to be base models and that these images are very low quality and appear to have been taken in bad lighting. According to further leaked information on the CivicXI forum, the sedan measures 184 inches long, 70.9 inches wide, and has a wheelbase of 107.7 inches. That makes, at least the Chinese version, if accurate, the 11th generation Civic will have a slightly longer wheelbase than the current iteration. We know Honda is looking to create as much space as possible in the Civic, so it seems likely that the wheelbase measurement is accurate.

We’re hoping what we’re looking at here is the base model, although white isn’t a color that’s doing the new Civic any favors. What is fascinating is the leaked images show a 240 badge. According to one commentator, “The 10th gen had a 220 turbo badge, the 220 representing 220nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. This one has a 240 turbo badge, so that’s a good sign for a bit more power,” suggesting the new model may have 177 lb-ft of torque. The leaked document also claims 180 horsepower and an L series turbocharged engine, although we haven’t seen the L15C8 designation before. The turbocharged L series engine in the current Civic Sedan’s 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque.
