Only 25 will be built, each costing around $270,000.

To continue the legacy of the original Land Rover Defender after it was discontinued and replaced by the all-new model, Land Rover Classic is building a limited run of adventure-ready Defender Works V8 Trophy SUVs. Based on the classic Defender Works V8 developed by Land Rover Classic, the new Trophy SUV is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 generating 399 horsepower and 377 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. It also retains the Defender Works V8’s uprated suspension, steering and braking, but has also been updated with a slew of new upgrades that enhance the SUV’s off-roading prowess.

Designed to tackle endurance off-roading challenges, new standard equipment includes a front winch, multi-point expedition cage, roof rack, underbody protection, A-bar, raised air intake, LED spotlights, and mud-terrain tires.

Each example is also finished in a unique Eastnor Yellow paint color with matching 16-inch steel wheels and contrasting Narvik Black paint applied to the wheel arches, hood and rear door as a homage to the Defenders used in the Camel Trophy between 1980 and 2000. LED headlights also come as standard along with a heritage front grille and unique Land Rover Trophy badging.

Inside, the Defender Works V8 Trophy is fitted with Recaro sports seats trimmed in black Windsor leather upholstery and contrast yellow stitching. There’s also a bespoke Land Rover Trophy clock face and a retro-style infotainment system designed by Land Rover Classic with navigation and mobile device connectivity.

Production of the Land Rover Defender Works V8 Trophy will be limited to just 25 examples available with a 90 or 110 wheelbase. In the UK, pricing for a 90 model starts at £195,000 ($270,166). In a unique opportunity, owners will be invited to compete in three-day off-road competition at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire, England, featuring gruelling off-road challenges inspired by famous global adventures and competitions like the Camel Trophy. This will be the first time customers will get to drive their new Defender V8 Trophy.

As part of the competition, each owner will receive expert one-to-one tuition to help hone their off-road driving skills. There will also be a range of prizes on offer including a grand prize for the overall winner that will be announced later this year.
