But will this new version come to America?

Some of the most lavish SUVs in the world are about to get more opulent. Just a few days ago, we got our first look at the upcoming Range Rover Evoque LWB. This isn’t the only luxury SUV getting the long-wheelbase treatment, however, because our spies have caught Bentley testing a stretched version of the Bentayga.

We got our first look at the Bentayga LWB being put through its paces at the Nurburgring, and now the stretched SUV is undergoing cold-weather testing in Sweden. The longer rear doors indicate this Bentayga has a longer wheelbase, but it otherwise looks identical to the regular model.

This will effectively replace the Bentley Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase, which was recently discontinued. We don’t know the dimensions yet, but the LWB variant will have a wheelbase of over 117.9 inches, creating more legroom for rear passengers to stretch out in comfort.

The regular Bentayga is already 202.3 inches long, so the LWB variant is going to be enormous. Like the regular Bentayga, the longer luxury SUV will be offered with either a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque or a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 generating 600 hp and 664 lb-ft. These units will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

We’re also expecting the Bentayga Hybrid to get the long-wheelbase treatment, but nothing is official yet. The electrified Bentayga pairs a 3.0-liter V6 TFSi with a 94-kW electric motor to produce a combined 443 hp and 516 lb-ft and enable the SUV to travel on pure electric power for up to 31 miles at speeds of up to 84 mph.

Bentley hasn’t confirmed when the extended-wheelbase Bentayga will arrive, but its current stage of development suggests it should be ready to debut later this year. Time will tell if it goes on sale in the US or if it will be sold exclusively in China like other extended-wheelbase luxury cars.
