2021 Maybach-Mercedes S-Class Costs Supercar Money

With its innovative technology, luxurious cabin, and a range of new electrified powertrains, the 2021 Mercedes S-Class is a big step up from its predecessor, but Maybach has taken its opulence to the next level. Featuring a seven-inch longer wheelbase, the new 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class debuted last November.

At the time, pricing details were kept under wraps so it wasn’t clear how much of a premium you’ll be paying for the plush Maybach variant – until now. Arriving in US dealers in mid-2021, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Sedan will start at $184,900 excluding the $1,050 destination charge, but adding options will likely increase the price to over $200,000.

This makes the new model $11,900 more expensive than the outgoing model and $75,100 more expensive than the regular S 500 4MATIC. For the 2021 model, only one trim is available: the Maybach S 580. While the Maybach was expected to be the only version of the S-Class available with a V12, the luxury limo is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 496 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

An electrified EQ Boost system also adds an extra 21 hp and 184 lb-ft. Thanks to its longer wheelbase measuring 133.7 inches, the rear cabin offers more rear legroom than the outgoing model. New comfort features include a calf rest massage function and neck and shoulder heating.

As you would expect, interior technology from the regular S-Class carries over. As standard, the Maybach S-Class is equipped with a 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen in the center console with the latest MBUX infotainment system featuring more advanced voice control and a new 4D Surround Sound system with 30 speakers. Rear-seat airbags and rear-axle steering come as standard and a 12.3-inch driver display with 3D graphics and an augmented reality head-up-display are also available. In total, up to five screens can be added to the front and rear.

On the outside, the Maybach S-Class sets itself apart from the regular S-Class with a unique front bumper and grille with vertical chrome slats, and an illuminated Maybach badge on the C-Pillar.
