See you later Hellcat.

New automotive records are being set on a near-daily basis. We’re talking Nurburgring records, top speed records, and now quarter-mile records. Last month we reported on a McLaren 765LT that had set a new quarter-mile record for the fastest production car on stock tires. Well, that same car is back and has broken its own record. The McLaren 765LT has proven to be even faster than the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon down the strip, and testing has shown that it actually produces more power than what McLaren claims from the factory. Last month this green hypercar set the record, but that time has already been smashed. When will this lunacy end?

The McLaren 765LT, which is the big daddy of the 720S, is claimed to produce 755 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, but dyno results have revealed that this car can make up to 770 hp. With a dry weight of only 2,709 lbs, this car was truly built for speed. Last month, the 765LT was piloted to a crazy 9.33-second quarter-mile run at 150.87 mph. What was even more impressive is that it did it on stock Pirelli Zero street tires.

The team headed back to the track earlier in February to break the old record, and they did so, rather convincingly. Luckily, the weather was nice and sunny, and grip levels seemed good. On the record-breaking run, the green 765LT managed a zero to sixty time of 2.156 seconds, and a zero to 100 mph time of 4.418 seconds. The sixty foot was decimated in 1.492 seconds, and the 1/8-mile was crossed in 6.106 seconds. The final 1/4-mile number is an astonishing 9.372 seconds at 151.83 mph. We feel like this record won’t last very long.
