That’s a lot of expensive metal.

The world’s rich have brushed off the coronavirus epidemic and are laughing in the face of a worldwide economic meltdown. That’s at least what it seems like in this two-minute-long clip, where a string of high-end exotic supercars can be seen slowly making their way through Gloucester Road near the old Wan Chai police station in Hong Kong. The string of 45 luxury cars, including a Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911s, and a McLaren 720S, were suspected of illegal street racing and were corralled by police officers in an attempt to stop these rich cavaliers from having a bit of fun.

The striking image of nearly 50 exotic supercars made headlines in Hong Kong for all the wrong reasons. The city is currently experiencing one of the worst economic downturns in its history, and rampant protests has left the city with visible scars, so a bunch of supercars showing off in the heart of this broken city can’t be too good for morale. One person in the video can be overheard saying “Wow. Any one of them must cost several million Hong Kong dollars. Definitely more than HK$4 million ($516,000)”. The drivers of these supercars were stopped and inspected, and some found themselves in hot water due to possible illegal modifications. One car was even towed away for the offense.

Of the 45 cars stopped, nine were ordered to undergo official inspections for possible aftermarket modifications, but thankfully no arrests were made. It is interesting to note the diversity of the lineup, which includes an Audi R8, a couple of Porsche 911s, and some Nissan GT-Rs, but the overwhelming majority of the cars pulled over are Lamborghinis such as the Huracan and Aventador. It seems like Hong Kong police aren’t too keen on the running of the bulls in their city.
