  3. Updated Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe Spied At The Nurburgring

But when will it arrive?

Since late last year, we’ve been catching glimpses of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE undergoing testing. Most of these images were captured in the cold weather of Sweden, near the Arctic Circle, and those images revealed that there would once again be both a GLE 63 and a slightly less extreme GLE 53. However, both variants of the AMG-enhanced SUV were of the traditional body style, and it’s been a long time since we saw the GLE Coupe in any recent spy shots. Is Mercedes ready to ax it? No, say our photographers. It seems that Mercedes has just been rather busy getting the regular version of the car ready because now the GLE Coupe has been spied taking to the Nurburgring.

These images once again confirm that any aesthetic changes to the GLE range will be relatively minor. That means a slightly refreshed front bumper and grille, refined headlights, updated taillights with new graphics, and (probably) some new wheel choices. The liftback tailgate appears to have been lightly massaged too, but this is probably only to help better incorporate the updated taillight design.

Fortunately, we already know that Mercedes is not stopping there. A new steering wheel is expected, but unfortunately, that’s all there is to look forward to – everything else appears to be staying exactly the same, although it’s not inconceivable to imagine that some trim and upholstery options may be updated too. Not that it matters much – the regular GLE Coupe is not offered here, only the aforementioned AMG variants.

The electric GLE, on the other hand, will look and feel vastly different and will bear a unique name too: EQE. This model will slot below the recently revealed EQS SUV and is expected to gain the 56-inch Hyperscreen from the EQE sedan and the EQS offerings.

If all of these new SUVs seem a little dull, fear not. Mercedes is soon to offer more variety through a new sub-brand that will focus on luxury. Called Mythos, the niche division has already teased its first offering. Can’t afford that? Don’t worry. Mercedes is working on entry-level luxury cars for the masses too.
