The Aston Martin DBX707 is here.
It’s been a little over a year since we first saw the Aston Martin DBX707. Since then, the car has been revealed, and deliveries are now beginning. What you’re looking at is the first one ever- fresh off Aston Martin’s St. Athan assembly line. The DBX is hand-built there– as some of the photos provided to us by Aston Martin show. In fact, Aston says the DBX is the first production car to be built in the small Wales village in nearly 50 years.
Seeing as that’s quite a streak to break, Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart, and his Under-Secretary, David Davies were there to oversee the completion of the car. This one is, of course, the first of many. Aston says the DBX will eventually be shipped to more than 50 countries in the coming months.

Inside the St. Athan facility, more than 100 technicians took this DBX707 from start to finish by hand. In the grand scheme of automotive production, that’s a staggeringly small number of people. Then again, given how many cars Aston makes in a year, the figure seems pretty spot-on. Many of those sales will be for DBXs like this one. Last year, Aston sold 4,250 cars, and the DBX accounted for more than half of them.
Michael Straughan, COO of Aston Martin, said: “Aston Martin is immensely proud to be manufacturing industry-leading products like DBX707 from a world-class facility in Wales, and we are delighted to see the very first model completed.” We’d think so too, given the current leadership circumstance at Aston. Now ex-CEO Tobias Moers has stepped down, replaced by ex-Ferrari exec, Amedeo Felisa.

It sounds like the government types in Wales were pleased as well. Hart said it was great to see the brand maintaining a presence in Wales, and that he wants the country to be “a highly attractive location for cutting-edge automotive technologies.”
Regardless, that first customer is in for one hell of a ride when their DBX707 shows up. We called the DBX707 a tiger in a 3-piece suit when we drove it back in April, and it certainly earns that reputation. It’s the fastest SUV in the world right now, producing a 3.1-second sprint to 60 and a top speed of 193 mph. That’s all possible thanks to an AMG-sourced twin-turbo V8 driving all four wheels with 697 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. With a starting price of $232,000 it wasn’t cheap either, though we doubt the owner will be thinking about money when it shows up.
