The Mercedes-AMG Project One Looks Brilliant In New Livery

The Mercedes-AMG One has been on the go for years now and despite a supposedly production-ready model being spotted in Monaco a couple of years ago, we’re still waiting to see the final version. We’ve seen spy shots of the car before, and Mercedes has allowed us to hear the prototype’s sound too, but to help build more hype for the astonishing hypercar, Mercedes-AMG has now released a short video showing the One in a blocky digital camo wrap, and we think it looks absolutely incredible. Getting to hear the car again and see its active aerodynamic flaps at work are just bonuses.

The black, red, and gray theme hides many of the curves of Merc’s most exciting new performance car, but it’s clear that this thing isn’t ready for the road yet. The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed the racecar-like wing mirrors that don’t match those seen in press photos depicting the final product. But the big focus of this video, what Mercedes really wants us to take from it, is the reminder that the Project One uses F1 technology. Mercedes wants to be sure that everyone knows just how impressive a feat adapting the tech for road use is.

As a reminder, the AMG One will feature a 1.6-liter V6 engine paired with four electric motors to produce more than 1,000 horsepower. As such, it can operate on electric power alone too, but the active aerodynamic aids are just as important as the engine and fixed body parts like that stunning fender vent and the massive rear diffuser. The video also shows the cockpit of the hypercar, albeit very briefly, and although this car has been in development for some time, the cabin looks like it’ll be right up to date when it finally arrives, whenever that may be.
