The Maserati MC20 Convertible Is Ready For Its Big Debut

Back in December of 2021, we said to expect an official debut of the Maserati MC20 Convertible in 2022. Well, here we are. The drop-top MC20 will in fact debut in 2022. On May 25, to be exact. We don’t have a time yet, but Maserati seemed to have confirmed the debut in the tweet below.

All it says is “Go beyond. You will admire the sky in a new way on Wednesday 25 May.”

Honestly, that’s pretty much confirmation. That is unless Maserati was working on a ‘vert Grecale without telling a single soul, and at that point, we’d be more impressed than mad. The photos attached to the post didn’t offer any additional detail, but at least they’re nice to look at.

The last time we saw the drop-top MC20 was back in December when it was still clad in camo. Speaking of, the cloudy livery was selected for obvious reasons. It’s a convertible. We still can’t spot any major differences between it and the coupe, however. Given the car’s new roof situation, we do expect the trident motif over the engine bay to change slightly. If not, it’ll likely be gone. However, this model will be a folding hardtop, which means the motif could still find a home.

In coupe form, the MC20 makes a solid 621 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 that drives the rear wheels. Given the extra weight associated with the folding metal top, we also wouldn’t be surprised to see a slight power bump for the Convertible. Some extra stiffening componentry will be stuffed in there to compensate for the roof, so expect a slight weight increase too.
