Tesla Model 3 And Model Y Just Got More Affordable

There was a time when Tesla delivered on its promise of selling an entry-level version of the Model 3 for $35,000. This was variant was shortlived, however, as the Standard Range trim was discontinued due a lack of demand, hiking the base price up to $37,990. Now, Tesla has reduced the base price of the Model 3 and Model Y yet again.

On the company’s website, the entry-level Model 3 Standard Range Plus is listed with a base price of $36,990. It’s still not as cheap as the old Standard model, but it’s still a saving of $1,000. The Model Y, on the other hand, has had a bigger price cut with the Standard Range Plus model reduced to $39,990, $2,000 less than before.

But while the entry-level Model 3 and Model Y are now more affordable, the range-topping variants are more expensive. Starting at $55,990, the Performance version of the Model 3 is $1,000 more expensive. The price of the Model Y Performance has also increased by $1,000, with an MSRP of $60,990. Pricing for the Long Range AWD variants of the Model 3 and Model Y remain unchanged at $46,990 and $49,990 respectively. All prices exclude the $1,200 destination charge.

Utilizing a single motor sending power to the rear wheels, the Standard Range Plus Model 3 has an estimated range of 263 miles, while the dual-motor AWD Long Range model has an extended range of 353 miles.

This drops to 315 miles in the range-topping Performance, which will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds. As for the Model Y, the RWD Standard Range variant will last 244 miles on a single charge, while the AWD dual-motor Long Range version offers a range of 326 miles.

The Performance version offers 303 miles of range and will sprint from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds. These price cuts make the Model 3 and Model Y more accessible than ever, but they won’t always be the cheapest models as Tesla is apparently planning to build an even more affordable city electric car that will be sold globally for $25,000.
