  3. Stop And Listen To One Of The Best-Sounding Ferraris Ever Made

Few things sound better in this world.

Ferrari builds some of the most beautiful vehicles known to humankind. Ferrari also builds some of the best performance cars out there, and more often than not, these two worlds intersect. Just look at the magnificent Ferrari Monza SP2. Less than 500 of these exquisite speedsters, inspired by race cars from the 1950s, will be made. But it’s the fact that it isn’t road legal in the US that makes it even more exotic. You’ll only catch these cars in private collections, exclusive car shows, and at a track day or two. In the following video, we get to see one in its natural habitat, and it is glorious.

The video starts with the SP2 entering an undisclosed track somewhere in Europe. The rare Ferrari sports a Silver paint job, and features a 1950s-themed red stripe that surrounds the front grille and continues down the middle of the car. The driver wears a racing helmet, even on public roads, and gives off a mysterious Stig vibe. We know that celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay owns one…

On the track, the driver doesn’t hold much back, and we get to hear that 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine sing right up to its 8,900 rpm redline.

The Ferrari Monza SP2 is much more than a pretty face: under its seductive exterior lies one of the best V12 engines ever made. This hand-crafted engine produces an astonishing 799 hp and 530 lb-ft and sends its power to the rear wheels via a razor-sharp seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 0-60 mph sprint is said to take only 2.9 seconds, and the 0-124 mph sprint a brief 7.9 seconds. Ferrari graciously affords those behind the wheel four driving modes; Wet, Sport, Race, and everything off. With an asking price of over $2 million, we’ll be sticking to ‘wet behind the ears’ mode. Fans of the Ferrari V12 should be pleased to know that the mighty prancing twelve is set to live on.
