Redesigned Porsche Carrera GT Comes To Life

Forget about the Porsche 911 Turbo: if you want the ultimate Porsche experience, you have to get behind the wheel of the Porsche Carrera GT. Only 1,270 units of the Carrera GTwere ever produced, and while some could argue that it is the most dangerous Porsche ever built, the fact remains that it is one of the purest and most beautiful driving machines the German manufacturer has ever put together. Unfortunately, the time has come and gone for you to own a brand new example, but if the Sketch Monkey could have his say, Porsche would take his digital redesign and build a new and improved version for millionaires across the world to enjoy.

The Carrera GT was manufactured by Porsche from 2004 to 2007 and was named Sports Car International’s number eight best car of all time. In standard form, this car is a thing of beauty and features massive side inlets and functional air dams, a shapely carbon-fiber hood, and that unforgettable rear wing. Porsche originally offered the Carrera GT in five colors, namely Basalt Black, GT Silver Metallic, Guards Red, Sela Gray, and Fayence Yellow. The Sketch Monkey starts off his redesign by using a silver version sporting classic five-spoke alloy wheels. He begins the process by highlighting some of the GT’s panel gaps and adds a set of endurance racing style rear fins on the left and right-hand side of the rear end, where the original tail lights have also been replaced by thin slivers in the new wing setup.

The front fender inlet also gets some work done, and is slightly widened, while smaller details such as the keyhole get smoothed over for a cleaner overall look. The Sketch Monkey even goes as far as to include panel gaps into his newly redesigned rear end. The beauty is in the detail, folks. This redesign isn’t massively revolutionary, but it combines some of Porsche’s latest design trends seamlessly with the Carrera GT’s original styling, and that takes some serious skill. Even so, as impressive as this looks, we must say that the original remains our favorite, and we’d gladly sell body parts on the black market for the chance to own one.
