The 992-generation Porsche 911 has blown us away with its incredible levels of performance, especially in 911 Turbo guise, but hardcore fans have been begging the German manufacturer to release some details regarding its next 911 GT3 car. Last August, we got to see the new car being put through its paces around the legendary Nurburgring race track, and in November, leaked images gave us a better glimpse of the interior of this track-focused beast. In an official press release, Porsche has finally set a date for the reveal of the latest GT car: the world premiere will take place on February 16 2021 at 3.00 p.m. CET.

Porsche says of the upcoming new car: “The first GT model based on the latest generation of the Porsche 911 (992) is all set to launch. A great deal of importance was attached to the transfer of technology from motorsport to the road during its development. The result: significantly improved performance on the circuit and in everyday life.”
The upcoming 911 GT3 will be powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine, which should deliver more than the previous car’s 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft, with power sent to either a manual or PDK dual-clutch transmission. While some might scoff at the use of the old motor, Porsche has also completely reworked the suspension system. The new multi-link setup should prove to be far superior to the old offering.

To save weight, the new car will use thinner glass, less sound deadening material, and the rear seats will be absent of course. The interior of the new car will closely resemble that of the 911 Carrera and Turbo but will gain trim specific graphics, logos, and a sporty leather steering wheel. Other details about the styling of the car will be discovered soon enough. Knowing Porsche, this car is going to blow minds.
