  3. New Images Confirm The Cadillac Celestiq Will Be A Looker

Caddy is on the right EV track here.

In new images released today, the brand showed off some of the finer details on its upcoming flagship EV, the Cadillac Celestiq. One of the photos shows a bolt somewhere on the new EV etched with the words “Standard of the World.” We’ve seen this sort of thing before, with the little Bucking Bronco featured on the center caps and ‘Bronco’ on bolts, if you can order one at all. Still, it’s nice attention to detail we get to see prior to when the debut actually happens.

“From its unique proportions and a new effortless, sophisticated form language, to the precision and attention to detail, Celestiq is unlike anything on the road today,” said Magalie Debellis, manager, Cadillac Branded Advanced Design. “From its inception, the Celestiq show car was crafted to reincarnate the Standard of the World.” Apparently, Cadillac means it yet again.

Easily the most detail-laden shot is one of the wheel well. Since we last saw some renderings of the Celestiq, some changes have been made. For now, aside from a few obvious ones, it’s tough to tell to what extent. First, you’ll notice the new grille badging. If it is in fact a badge. It’s tough to tell, but it looks backlit. Heck, for all we know it could be a hood latch for the frunk.

GM has also updated the wheels ahead of the Celestiq’s debut, going with being a little more extra than before. The wheels, which look to be around 19 or more inches, now feature a straked fin pattern on them. It could perhaps have something to do with helping the Celestiq manage better range. The sedan’s competition is notoriously long-legged. We found that the Mercedes EQS would do damn near 380 miles on a single charge on our EV road trip.

We can’t quite tell what light we’re looking at based on the image, but whatever light it may be, it packs some detail. The light, presumably a taillight, looks to be LED. It’ll feature some sort of lined pattern, likely pointing towards a Caddy badge on the rear trunk. As for the final photo, we can’t tell what it is. Perhaps interior trim? Either way, it’s made of metal and looks luxurious.

For now, we know that the Celestiq will make use of GM’s Ultra Cruise autonomous driving software, and should be showing up sometime in early 2022. At this rate, that means soon. It’s already June, after all. The Celestiq will ride on GM’s Ultium EV architecture and should present a solid alternative to the likes of the EQS and the Audi e-tron GT.
