Looks like the Mercedes A-Class is about to get even smaller.

2021 is going to be a very busy year for Mercedes. Thanks to a recent leak, we know that Mercedes is planning to launch as many as seven new models this year, including the EQS flagship electric sedan, the next-generation C-Class, and the upcoming CLS facelift. Looking further ahead, German publication Autobild has outlined Mercedes’ upcoming model lineup in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and there are a few surprises.

While some of the models in the report have already been announced by Mercedes, the publication claims that the A-Class and GLA will be getting unannounced baby brothers in the future.

Slotting below the A-Class, the Mercedes A City will reportedly be a small city car that will serve as the German automaker’s new entry-level model. Allegedly, the city car will be a shortened version of the A-Class with a three-door bodystyle inspired by the stunning EQA Concept that debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. In contrast, the production EQA is a compact crossover instead of a three-door hatchback. The Mercedes A City will reportedly arrive in 2020 priced at around 20,000 euros ($24,070).

US availability hasn’t been confirmed, but we aren’t expecting it to be available in America since the A-Class hatchback isn’t sold here, only the A-Class sedan.

Potential powertrain options were not mentioned, but an all-electric powertrain would be ideal for a compact city car designed for urban driving.

Joining the A City will be the A Adventure. Slotting below the Mercedes GLA crossover, the A Adventure will be based on the A City with a more rugged exterior featuring plastic cladding and roof rails. Don’t expect it to be a true off-roader, however, because the baby crossover reportedly won’t have all-wheel drive. Allegedly, the A Adventure will arrive in 2023 and probably has a better chance of being sold in the US. Mercedes hasn’t officially announced either model, however, so these are just rumors for now.
