Only 12 examples are being built.

Founded in 1901 back when it was called Weller, AC Cars is best known for building the iconic Cobra sports car, which spawned the Shelby Cobra racer. Over the last 12 decades, the company has been renamed and has relaunched several times due to financial hardship. Despite this, the AC name still lives on thanks to the enduring popularity of the AC Cobra.

To celebrate its 120th anniversary this year, AC Cars is launching a new series of anniversary models based on the reborn Superblower. Limited to just 12 units, the commemorative AC Cobra Superblower is finished in a custom livery with signature racing stripes adorning the center of the hood and trunk honoring the car’s racing pedigree.

Five colors will be available: AC Red with white stripes, AC Blue with white stripes, AC British Racing Green with white stripes, and AC Yellow white stripes. A special version finished in blue with orange stripes will also be available. Like the regular Superblower, power will be sourced from a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 generating 580 horsepower. No performance specifications have been released, but AC Cars says the recreated Superblowers are “possibly the quickest production AC Cobra’s ever built.”

This special-edition Superblower is bittersweet, however, because it marks the end of an era. As AC Cars prepares to enter the electric era with the first-ever electric AC Cobra, this could be your last chance to experience the classic V8-powered one.

“We are confident in the future because we have moved quickly and have put in place a new powertrain which can meet the challenges of the impending legislation changes while retaining the true essence of the AC Cobra’s unique appeal – appearance and ultimate performance,” said Alan Lubinsky, owner of AC Cars.

“We are near the end of an era. In time we’ll be saying a final farewell to the iconic AC Cobra. My question is: Will we ever see (and hear) what it’s like again? My answer is – these celebration cars guarantee that the legend that is the AC Cobra will live on into the future and outlive the ICE Age. We are looking forward to selling a truly hot car in a sunny climate.” AC Cars is currently accepting orders for the commemorative Superblower, which starts at £129,500 ($179,221).
