Lamborghini’s updated Urus is preparing to attack the Aston Martin DBX.

Since the Lamborghini Urus launched in 2018, more manufacturers have joined the super SUV craze with recent model launches like the Aston Martin DBX. Even Ferrari is preparing to launch its first-ever SUV called the Purosangue.

In response, Lamborghini is preparing to launch the first major update for the Urus, and our spies have seen it in action for the first time. Spied undergoing testing in the snow alongside the current Urus, the refreshed SUV is expected to be called the Urus Evo, which is consistent with other recently refreshed models like the Huracan Evo.

The SUV is fully camouflaged, but this could be deceiving as we aren’t expecting any significant design changes considering it’s a facelift. The front bumper appears to have been tweaked to incorporate reshaped intakes. Unusually for a facelift, the headlight design hasn’t been changed, but the final design could have new graphics to freshen it up. At the rear, there aren’t any obvious visual changes, but the rear taillights and bumpers will probably be tweaked as well.

We haven’t seen the interior yet, but the cabin could get an updated infotainment system and new trim options. More significant changes could be found under the hood, however.

Lamborghini has already confirmed a plug-in hybrid variant of the Urus is in development that will be sold alongside VW Group’s Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga, so the electrified SUV’s debut could coincide with the facelift. The current model’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 will also carry over, which generates 641 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque in the current Urus. That’s enough power to propel the SUV from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds and onto a top speed of 189.5 mph.

Since prototype testing still appears to be at an early stage, we’ll probably have to wait until late 2021 or early 2022 for the refreshed Lamborghini Urus Evo to debut.
