Lamborghini has unveiled its latest Huracan variant with screaming V10 and street smarts.
2021 was Lamborghini’s best year ever, and you’ll be glad to know that the Italian automaker is using its profits to create more spectacular supercars. We’ve known that new models were planned for this year since Lamborghini confirmed it in January, and we’ve had our spy photographers keep a watchful eye over developments as they’ve progressed over the past few months. Last week, our guesswork over when one of these new models would be revealed came to an end as the Sant’Agata-based brand released a teaser to whet our appetites, and now the great day of the international reveal has arrived. Say hello to the magnificent Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica.

We won’t keep you waiting, so here are the headline numbers. 631 horsepower and 416 lb-ft of torque are figures that may sound familiar to you, and they should since they come from the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 that is borrowed from the Huracan STO and connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Like the STO, the Tecnica drives the rear axle only, yet it manages 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is pegged at 202 mph.
Thanks to a recalibrated LDVI (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) drive mode system, a special suspension setup, rear-wheel steering, and “innovative brake cooling improvements,” this is both a hardcore Huracan you can enjoy at the limit on the track and a laidback Lamborghini you can simply cruise in. In fact, Lamborghini calls this “the perfect fun-to-drive Huracan.”
Company CEO Stephan Winkelmann says that this “pays homage to technical purity and physical sensation” and “completes the Huracan lineup, sitting perfectly between the [602-hp Huracan Evo] RWD and the track-focused STO” versions of the Huracan.

With a dry weight of just 3,040 pounds, this should be a riot to pilot and when it comes time to stop the fun, carbon-ceramic brakes with “specifically designed cooling deflectors and caliper ducts” direct airflow into the discs to maximize performance and minimize wear. The discs on these brakes are ventilated and cross-drilled and measure 14.96 inches in front and 14 inches in the rear, with clamping force coming from six- and four-piston calipers, respectively. That low curb weight comes courtesy of a chassis made of aluminum and carbon fiber, with the body made using similar techniques. As you’d hope, the electronic stability control system can be fully deactivated, so sliding the Tecnica in a glorious drift will be a piece of cake. While you’re doing so, car spotters will be snapping away at something that looks very different from your typical Huracan.

If this Huracan looks new but carries a resemblance to something you’ve seen before, that’s because part of its design inspiration is the Terzo Millenio Concept from 2017, as is evident in the black Y-shaped Ypsilon design in the new front bumper. For the first time in a Huracan, an air curtain is integrated while a new front splitter with lower, open slats directs air through the wheels and enhances downforce and cooling. Black accents at the base of the windshield “increase the lightweight impression.”
Moving along the profile, we find that the Huracan Tecnica is just over 2.4 inches longer than the Huracan Evo and features “a silhouette inspired by the daylight opening line from the Essenza SCV12” while the black of the Ypsilon feature at the front continues along the flank of the supercar to the side intakes. The roof can also be finished in black to enhance the sleek effect.

The revised rear includes a new vertical rear window for improved visibility and a redesigned engine cover in carbon fiber. There’s a new bumper back here too, boasting an optimized air inlet. The diffuser – which is optionally available in black but comes in body color as standard – houses new hexagonal exhaust tips while a fixed rear wing improves rear downforce by 35% compared to the Huracan Evo RWD. Despite this, drag has been optimized too, reduced by 20%. The Tecnica’s underbody has also been considered and optimized with new aero deflectors.
As for the road-holding element, 20-inch Damiso diamond cut wheels are inspired by those of the Lamborghini Vision GT and come wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.

Inside is just as special an affair. Height-adjustable seats mean you don’t have to be a racing driver to find a decent position, but if you want to make this cabin more performance-focused, further options include “a lightweight door design, a rear arch and wheel bolts in lightweight titanium, and harness seat belts.” As for the digital interface, it has been redesigned for this car with reduced colors for the instrument panel and improved readability in a large new arc in front of the driver. Infotainment capabilities include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, while the STO is the inspiration for connected telemetry and track times that can be recorded on the Unica app.

Finally, let’s get onto customization. Eight standard exterior colors are offered, but more than 200 more are available through the Ad Personam program. There’s also a new interior trim in Alcantara specifically for Tecnica, and options like various stitching designs and colors, as well as options for the and the ‘Tenica’ motif on the bolsters. It’s a pity that Lambo hasn’t told us the names of these colors or shown us more of them, but this launch green is pretty special in its own right.
Pricing has not yet been revealed, but with the Huracan STO commanding an asking price of around $330,000, we don’t expect this – as one of the last naturally aspirated, V10-powered Lamborghinis ever – to be more affordable. For those who have the money but find the extreme, race-inspired nature of the STO too much, the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica is the answer. We wish we had enough cash to ask ourselves which to buy, but we doubt it’ll be long before orders are full.
