  3. Lamborghini Enters The Automotive Hall Of Fame

The company’s founder is in illustrious company.

Founded in 1963, Lamborghini has brought us glorious V12 monsters like the Aventador Ultimae and sublime driving machines like the Huracan STO. If it weren’t for the poor customer service provided by Ferrari many decades ago, Ferruccio Lamborghini may never have founded his car company, and the world would have been poorer for it. Fortunately, history transpired as we know, and now the Italian automaker’s founder is being recognized for his contributions to the industry, officially being inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame. He joins compatriot Enzo Ferrari as a recipient of the honor, as well as other big names like Ferdinand Piech of Volkswagen fame, Henry Ford and his son, and Mario Andretti.

The induction ceremony took place last week, on Thursday, 21 July, with various automotive executives and VIPs gathering at The Icon on the Detroit waterfront to celebrate the occasion. Since Ferruccio is no longer with us, the award was accepted on his behalf by Andrea Baldi, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Americas. Ferruccio Lamborghini’s signature now appears in the Hall of Honor at the Automotive Hall of Fame.

The Automotive Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that honors and celebrates the industry’s leaders and innovators through awards and programs designed to challenge others in the industry to achieve more. Founded in 1939, the Automotive Hall of Fame has honored 757 awardees to date.
