Garage kept by one occasionally careful owner.
For the average used car buyer, we wouldn’t recommend a modified Subaru WRX STi. Particularly one with a duct tape sticker on the dashboard reminding the driver that the “fuel tank has hole (sic).” But, this isn’t your neighbor’s kid’s slammed and straight piped Impreza. This is Ken Block’s race-prepped 2002 WRX STi that helped him earn his first rally victory in 2006. It’s also the car that he jumped 171 feet to set a world record on the Discovery Channel show Stunt Junkies. According to the listing on Wall Street Motorsport, it’s Block himself that’s selling the car, and the buyer’s fee is going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Although Block used the Impreza for an insane stunt on TV, it is a pure, and now vintage, Subaru race car. It’s a 2002 model built and rally prepped by Vermont SportsCar, the same team that made Travis Pastrana’s current competition car for the Subaru Rally Team USA. The team also gave it the 2006 “hawkeye” headlight upgrade, and, in its day, the naturally aspirated boxer engine made 304 hp and 311 ft-lb of torque. There’s no reason to believe that number will have dropped over the years as the advert says Block has kept it in his climate-controlled warehouse in Utah, and it is it’s being given a once-over before his rally crew before the auction is complete.
There’s no telling how much it will go for, but Block’s Ford Focus RS RX went for a stunning $200,000 recently.

There are two ways you could look at this car, both of them equally valid. On the one hand, it’s a purpose-built rally car of the highest standard and ready to be enjoyed for fun or more seriously in historic racing events. On the other hand, it’s a piece of machinery from Subaru’s peak era in rally sport and was owned and driven by Ken Block, making it a quality collector’s piece to be preserved and cherished. After all, this is the car that set Block on his path to worldwide stardom and makes it a part of both automotive and pop culture history.
