Jeep Grand Cherokee L Spotted In The Wild

With the current generation Jeep Grand Cherokee on its way out, dealers have offered great bargains on these off-road machines. The brand also announced in January that it will be launching the Grand Cherokee L, the first three-row Jeep since the Commander ended production over a decade ago, which will slot in alongside the new Cherokee. The official word from Jeep was that the Grand Cherokee L would reach dealerships in the second quarter of 2021, a full quarter before the two-row car, which we can understand since it is the more impactful product. In a few newly released photos, we now get to see the big L in the wild.

The pics show the new Cherokee L parked at a gas station in the United Arab Emirates, and by looking at exterior features such as the front bumper and wheel design, this car looks to be US-Spec. This is a sizable car and measures up to SUVs such as the long-wheelbase Range Rover. It features a total length of 204.9 inches, a width of 77.3 inches, and a height of 71.5 inches. This still makes it smaller than proper full-size SUVs such as the Ford Expedition Max.

Powering this lumbering Jeep are two engine choices: an entry level Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 that produces 290 hp and 257 lb-ft of torque, or a more powerful, and more characterful 5.7-liter Hemi V8 which pushes power outputs up to 357 hp and 390 lb-ft. Both engine options will be mated to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to either the rear, or all four wheels. Jeep is also planning to launch the Wagoneer which will slot in below the Grand Wagoneer and above the Grand Cherokee L. Expect the Jeep Grand Cherokee L to start at around $40,000.
