Hyundai N Reveals A Special Line Of Toy Cars

Hyundai’s high-performance N range has received acclaim across the world, with the Korean carmaker cleverly poaching a slew of BMW M veterans to help develop its affordable range of sports cars. But what if you can’t afford the $32,150 required to get you behind the wheel of an Elantra N? Well, very soon, the performance arm plans on launching more affordable (and much smaller) alternatives.

Previewed on the subsidiary’s Instagram account are a collection of new N toy cars. The Elantra N can be seen – as well as the Kona N – in various colors including Performance Blue.

It’s clear to see, however, that one much-loved N car isn’t present. Fans commenting under the trio of posts are demanding the Veloster N be added to the collection but we know that won’t happen. Sadly, the Veloster N is dead.

Hyundai is yet to announce a launch date or pricing for these tiny wonders, but it seems they’ll be made available in two colors. It could just be special effects, but it also appears that both the Elantra N and Kona N have working front and rear lights, which is a neat touch. N Performance has staged the vehicles around several-performance themed settings, including a dyno and garages. Perhaps, these accessories will also be made available.

We will only know when Hyundai reveals additional details. According to the last Instagram post, it should be soon. “For those who want to purchase these miNiatures, stay tuned!”

Interestingly, the i30 N (a hot hatch not available in America) has also been excluded from the festivities. They may not have quite as broad an appeal as Hot Wheels’ various collectibles, but this should go down a treat for Hyundai N lovers.

Elsewhere, Hyundai N has recently revealed two hugely exciting concepts, both of which preview the subsidiary’s performance future. The all-electric, 577-horsepower RN22e (based upon the Ioniq 6) is exciting enough, but it’s the hydrogen-powered N Vision 74 that got all the attention.

With seriously cool retro styling and a driver-focused cockpit, the N Vision 74 produces as much as 679 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. But, because it’s hydrogen, refueling the sports car shouldn’t be a faff; Hyundai says a refill should take just five minutes and provide a range of more than 372 miles.

But these aren’t the only next-gen N cars on the cards. We’ve known for some time that Hyundai is cooking up a high-performance derivative of the Ioniq 5, and anticipate it will utilize the same electric motor setup as the Kia EV6 GT. If that’s the case, expect 577 hp and 546 lb-ft.
