Order books for the Mercedes EQA are now open in Germany.

Last month, Mercedes expanded its EQ electric family with the new entry-level EQA crossover. In EQA 250 guise, the electric crossover’s single-motor electric powertrain produces 188 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the front wheels. Based on Europe’s NEDC test cycle, the EQA’s 66.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack enables an electric driving range of 302 miles. A more powerful dual-motor variant with AWD, 268 hp, and over 310 miles of range will also arrive later. While US availability and pricing details are still being kept under wraps, Mercedes has confirmed how much the EQA will cost in Germany to give us a rough idea.

Order books for the Mercedes EQA 250 are now open in Germany with a starting price of 47,540 Euros – that’s $56,925 at current exchange rates. A grant from the German government reduces the asking price to 37,970 Euros ($45,465) in Germany.

One year of free Mercedes me charging is also included. A limited Edition 1 is also available for an extra 8,520 Euros ($10,202), combining elements of the Night Package with AMG bodystyling, and 20-inch wheels.

We’re still waiting to find out pricing details for the US, but if the EQA costs around $56,000 it will be more expensive than the Tesla Model Y, which starts at $49,990. In Germany, several packages are available for the EQA. Costing 2,570 Euros ($3,078), the Advanced Package adds more comfort and safety features, including two 10.25-inch displays, a blind spot assist, the mirror package and the parking package with reversing camera. This package is also included with the Edition 1.

For 3,677 Euros ($4,403), the Advanced Plus Package adds keyless entry, two-zone automatic climate control, a premium audio system, and wireless smartphone charging.

For 5,557 Euros ($6,655), a Premium Package adds a panoramic sliding sunroof, surround sound system and a parking package with a 360-degree camera.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights with adaptive highbeam assist, 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting with 64 colors, luxury seats with four-way adjustable lumbar support, a reversing camera, a multifunction sports steering wheel in leather, and the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience. Customer deliveries for the EQA will start this spring in Germany, so we’re expecting the US variant to arrive later this year.
