This will be one mean-looking off-roader.
After launching the Mustang Mach-E, Ford is preparing for its next important model launch: the reborn Bronco. Deliveries of the rugged off-roader are scheduled to start in the summer, but demand has been so high that some customers who placed an order may not receive their Bronco until the 2022 model year.
When it goes on sale, the new Bronco will be available with hundreds of accessories to improve its capability and make it look more visually striking such as flared fender kits, skid plates, splash guards, and trail armor offering more protection. If this still doesn’t satisfy your requirements, Ford is also developing an even more hardcore version of the Bronco that will allegedly be called the Warthog according to trademarks and a recently leaked internal email.

We’ve already seen prototypes out in the wild confirming that testing for the hardcore Bronco has already begun. Now, another camouflaged prototype has been spotted on the road near Moab, Utah. Video footage shows the Bronco Warthog prototype is still heavily camouflaged, but the modifications are immediately obvious.
Ford can’t hide the prototype’s noticeably wider fenders and larger 37-inch all-terrain tires that will make the Warthog even more powerful than the optional Sasquatch Package. A lift kit also raises the prototype’s ride height, giving the Warthog more ground clearance.

We’re also expecting the suspension to be upgraded, while the copious amounts of camouflage suggest the Warthog will sport unique, more aggressive-looking bumpers.
Whereas the regular Bronco is powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, the wild Warthog variant is expected to use Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. In the Explorer ST, this unit produces 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, which would be a massive boost over the regular Bronco.
The Bronco Warthog is expected to debut next year, so the prototypes should start to shed some camouflage soon to give us a clearer look at Ford’s new hardcore off-roader.
