And Ford can’t (or won’t) do anything special to help him.

The Ford Bronco has, as we all know, suffered from its fair share of growing pains. It was a totally new model for Ford, one that the brand had to get right. In a lot of ways, it didn’t. The Bronco was marked up, blown up, and otherwise mishandled. It is a shame because it is superior in many ways versus the Jeep Wrangler.

One owner might not be getting the chance to find out just how great the Bronco is. Manual Flores took to the Bronco6G forum to tell his sad tale, and man is it a tragedy. Flores got the news recently that his 2022 Ford Bronco was severely damaged in a hailstorm while traveling through Omaha, Nebraska after a long two-year wait to take delivery.

Flores’ Bronco reservation dates back to July 14, 2020. He didn’t get his VIN number assigned until March 4, 2022. Thankfully, things looked to be speeding up there for a while. The SUV was scheduled for production on April 25, but was then pushed back to May 9. Mercifully, Flores was supposed to get his order between June 12-18. As we know now, that didn’t happen.

Flores says he contacted Ford, which then told him the damage was reparable. However, it exceeded the limit specified by Ford’s warranty and policy manual. Then, and this is where things get messed up, he was told the car wouldn’t be sold as new. Instead, it’d be sold at auction. And we all know what that means for this brand new Bronco.

Initially, Ford told him to reorder the vehicle through the dealer and ask for expedited delivery. But the dealership allegedly didn’t know how to do that and was waiting for word from Ford. Ford also told Flores that there wasn’t anything it could do, again telling him to talk to the dealer in an endless loop.

Flores has made multiple updates to his post since the incident occured. Ford has not given Flores an update yet. He says the “Vehicle has been Categorized as F and want to sell as NEW. Per Ford Policy: Category F Definition: Vehicles incurring auction level damage repairs in excess of $1000.00 precluding sale as a new vehicle, but repairable for sale as a quality used vehicle at auction.”

His most recent update, made July 9, concludes with this: “At this point, this is borderline illegal let alone unethical. It’s the principle that bothers me at this point. Still waiting….”
