  3. Electric Chevy Blazer Could Be More Corvette Than Camaro

GM’s design team has already teased what it could be thinking of.

We love the GM Design Instagram account. Here you get to see all the weird and wonderful designs the GM team comes up with. Some make it into production, while others never see the light of day, but these designs always give us a glimpse into the future of GM cars. The latest creation to come out of the GM design laboratory is this racy SUV that looks like the electric version of the Chevrolet Blazer. The cool-looking design comes courtesy of Jason Chen, a creative designer for GMC, and we have to say that if GM decides to go in this direction when the Blazer does go electric, it should attract plenty of buyers.

The updated Blazer was revealed earlier this year as a stopgap while we wait for the electric Blazer to arrive, and this sketch clearly channels the same sort of elements as that vehicle. As with so many futuristic design concepts we see on the GM Design account, the wheels on this vehicle are absolutely enormous and feature a multispoke design that reminds us of the alloys on the Volkswagen Golf GTI. This coupe-style crossover SUV creation sits miles above terra firma which could suggest some serious off-road capability, and the absence of a grille makes us believe that this beast is all-electric. The slim LED lighting may not appear too practical, but we’re sure projectors would be hidden in the recesses at each corner of the front fascia.

As is pictured above, our artists here at CarBuzz have also taken a crack at envisioning what the 2024 Blazer EV will be like from an aesthetic point of view. As for what to expect under the floor (it feels weird not talking about the hood, doesn’t it?), all we know is that it will be based on GM’s Ultium EV platform. Since this platform’s tri-motor setup that produces 1,000 horsepower is only intended for use in large vehicles like the GMC Hummer EV, it would be reasonable to assume that the Blazer EV will be offered in single- and dual-motor configurations, potentially producing up to 580 hp in the latter. We’ll find out soon enough though, as the electric crossover should break cover in 2023 and we’ll surely see plenty of teasers before then.
