This is unlike any other Brabus you’ve ever seen.
When it comes to modifying luxury SUVs, few do it better than Brabus. This legendary German tuner has been specializing in Mercedes-Benz vehicles for decades, and these days loves to build insanely overpowered versions of stock Mercedes-AMG and Maybach cars. Brabus doesn’t just stick to the luxury stuff: a lot of its creations are more than capable of handling some serious off-roading, but nothing it has built comes close to offering the capability and thrills of this. Brabus calls it the 900 Crawler, and the final result is nothing like the G-Class it bears resemblance to. It might look like a modified Mercedes-Benz G-Class, but it’s a fully-custom machine that isn’t even road-legal. Strap in and take a deep breath, because this thing is nuts, and that’s on a scale of insane Brabus creations.

For its 45th anniversary, Brabus decided to build the ultimate luxury off-road machine. The Brabus 900 Crawler is the company’s first ground-up in-house developed vehicle, and features a fully custom chassis and tubular frame. The exterior features notable highlights such as that massive vented hood, underbody skid plates, LED headlights, and a fifth wheel mounted on the back.
The 900 Crawler is powered by the “Brabus Rocket 900” power plant, which is essentially a Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V8 used in various AMG applications including the Mercedes-AMG G63. It starts out as a 4.0-liter V8 before Brabus bores it out to 4.5 liters, fits stronger pistons, a billet crankshaft, and two large turbos boosting 1.4 bar to produce a monumental 888 brake horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque. That tremendous amount of power is channeled to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. A 26.4-gallon fuel cell and a series of high-pressure fuel pumps keeps this beast fed. An electronically-adjustable exhaust system with three-inch downpipes makes the Crawler sound like it wants to destroy the human race.

Under all the carbon fiber bodywork, the Crawler hides a set of portal axles, height-adjustable struts with four-way adjustable damping. The exterior is simply a few carbon-Kevlar body panels fastened to a steel safety cell, and it looks badass. The Crawler rolls on a set of 20-inch Brabus Monoblock HD Platinum Edition forged wheels with 40-inch tires.
The performance figures are as impressive as styling: ground clearance is pegged at 20.9 inches with 6.3 inches of spring travel, the curb weight is a reasonable 4,553 lbs, and the Crawler will hit 62 mph in only 3.4 seconds. Due to the off-road tires, Brabus has limited its top speed to just under 100 mph.
Inside the cabin you’ll find four SilverTex-upholstered bucket seats, an intercom system, and a GPS-based off-road navigation system. Only 15 of these crazy machines will be built in 2022, with another ten following in 2023 and 2024. The price you ask? A cool €749,000 ($791,038). A Ford Bronco Raptor has nothing on this.
