Everything from traditional M cars to SUVs and EVs will be showcased.
BMW may have been alienating some traditionalists with its new design direction, but what really matters is the way the brand’s automobiles drive. The new BMW M3 Touring – which we won’t be getting in America – is taking a long time to arrive because BMW wants to ensure that it drives as an M3 should. But there’s no point in buying a car as capable as a Bimmer if you don’t know how to deploy it properly. This is why BMW has the Ultimate Driving Experience, an event that invites the public to experience just what the brand’s performance cars are capable of. This year, electric vehicles join the mix.
The event will make 25 stops across the US, with its next major stop in Atlanta, Georgia between April 21-24. The BMW iX all-electric SUV will be part of the event, as will the BMW i4. But fear not if you were hoping to get behind the wheel of something with a soul – BMW M and core BMW models will also be available to experience. Whatever you drive, professional instruction on closed courses will help you find the limits safely while local street drives and interactive vehicle displays will allow participants to get the full BMW lifestyle experience.
For those 18 years of age and older, BMW is inviting the public to “experience the exhilarating, fully electric acceleration, power, handling, and performance of the first-ever BMW i4 through the sharp turns and bends of an autocross course.”
Street drives will feature the iX and i4, the new X7 M60i, the plug-in hybrid 530e xDrive, and the M850i xDrive Convertible and Gran Coupe. This is only open to individuals 25 and older. Interactive displays will showcase new in-vehicle tech and future innovations, as well as the new BMW 7 Series and X7, plus how the brand’s at-home chargers work. Finally, the iX experience is touted as a “deep dive into the new and innovative features” of this SUV.
If you’re in Georgia, head to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. If not, look out for future stops in Boston, Houston, Denver, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, and Tampa, among others.
