German tuner Dahler does the business on the boring barge.

The new M5 CS and its smaller sibling the M2 CS are two of BMW’s best sports cars on the market. The full-sized luxury barge that is the 7 Series isn’t as well known for its performance capabilities; sure you get some seriously fast versions, but in general, they’re not the go-to performance model. After giving the M2 CS a serious power boost, German tuning specialistDahler Design has a different opinion on BMW’s executive limousine. This BMW 745Le xDrive has been tuned to produce more power than the new M3 CS, and even sports a slight exterior makeover.

Dahler started under the hood, where it increased the power levels of the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine from a stock 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, to an impressive 408 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. That’s a serious number, but don’t forget that the 745Le xDrive also packs an electric motor that contributes another 111 hp and 195 lb-ft, for a total system output of 521 hp and 637 lb-ft. Those figures easily surpass those of the M3 CS, which can only muster 503 hp and 479 lb-ft from its 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine, and takes the fight straight to the 750i.

Not only does Dahler significantly boost the 7er’s performance, but it also offers some other tasteful accessories, such as a stainless steel exhaust system, and even a sport suspension system that gives the big seven a slight drop in ride height for a more planted look. Unfortunately, cars with adaptive air suspension systems can’t fit this option. Dahler also decided to change up the wheel design with a set of massive 22-inch alloy wheels from its CDC1 Forged series, boasting a bold ten-spoke design and 35 percent less weight than the stock wheels. Dahler also offers a 21-inch wheel option, but go big or go home right?
