Your Bentley SUV can now get the Mulliner treatment.
The Mulliner name goes back to 1559 as a saddler business that passed its craftsmanship down the generations until it refocused as a horse-drawn coachbuilding company, then again on coachbuilding for motor cars. Mulliner maintained a close relationship with Bentley and designed the 1952 Bentley R-Type Continental. Rolls-Royce bought Bentley and Mulliner in the late 1950s and the latter became a division of Bentley. Today, Mulliner is the final word in bespoke luxury treatment, and now the Bentley Bentayga has been added to Mulliner’s Personal Commissioning Guide. According to Bentley, that means that adds to the “billions of ways a Bentley can be commissioned using the ‘standard’ options.”

Adding the Bentayga to the Personal Commissioning Guide gives customers an additional 26 colors, including solids, metallic, and satins. Being in the Personal Commissioning Guide also means a Bentayga’s paint can be color-matched to almost any sample a customer wants. It’s the interior where a commission can go truly nuts, though. Mulliner offers a range of 27 hide and stitching colors to choose from as a starting point. Color accents can be added to areas, including the seat piping, carpet binding, and hand cross-stitching. According to Bentley, hand cross-stitching a Bentayga cabin takes one craftsperson around 44 hours to complete and uses unique thread and special dyes. Of course, these materials can be color-matched to anything you want, too.

Inside the Bentayga, Alcantara can also be used for a more sporty feel, but we don’t foresee many choosing that. More likely, Mulliner customers will choose to add a name, motif, or crest to seats and floor mats, or even a name to the outer illuminated sill plates. Wood and veneers are a Bentley Mulliner specialty, and the customizing arm has brought back Cross Banding using an Australian straight grain veneer with a boxwood inlay that can be enhanced with an overlay in either a silver or gold color. Other finishes include Bentley Mulliner’s new signature Stone Veneer, available in Autumn White, Copper, Galaxy, or Terra Red color finishes.
For some icing on the luxury cake, customers can even option adding personalized text or imagery to the passenger fascia panel. Taking things to the extreme, the welcome lights can be customized with text, an image, or a logo to project onto the floor. Your move, Rolls-Royce.
