And the additional security features are incredible.

The Ford F-150 Raptor is a pretty awesome vehicle, but for the people at Hennessey, it wasn’t awesome enough. Thus, they built the VelociRaptor 600, a monster with 600 horsepower and the ability to post a 0-60 mph time of just 4.2 seconds. That’s all good and well, but some people need protection to go with their power. This is where AddArmor comes in. The company has a history of building armored vehicles that turns the subjects into safe rooms capable of withstanding just about anything. The company will apply this treatment to pretty much any vehicle, and the latest subject is the beefiest Baja bruiser yet.

AddArmor founder and CEO Pete Blaber says: “With the Raptor being one of the most powerful and capable trucks on the road, this was an exceptional opportunity to showcase what AddArmor can provide to any vehicle without affecting its performance or appearance.” If you’re thinking that this sounds impossible to achieve, you wouldn’t be the first skeptic. But where traditional armorers would use thick steel plates, AddArmor uses ‘Dyneema’, touted as the world’s lightest and strongest composite material. It’s a synthetic fiber that is 15 times stronger than steel and 40 percent stronger than Kevlar on a weight-for-weight basis. This allows the enhanced vehicle to retain good acceleration, braking, and handling characteristics, which is why AddArmor can even modify a Ferrari with minimal downside.

But AddArmor doesn’t just toughen the body. The brand’s VelociRaptor also gets a counter-attack sound cannon, electric-shock door handles, run-flat tires, a siren and strobe lights, an intercom system, and even the ability to scan for bombs. Brembo brakes and a front suspension leveling kit are also fitted for added peace of mind. The conversion is clearly quite comprehensive, but interestingly, most packages are quite affordable, with AddArmor quoting an average of around $30,000 for these packages. Should a zombie apocalypse ever happen, we’d want to be in one of these. And even if the apocalypse doesn’t come, who doesn’t want a frickin’ sound cannon on their car?
