Subtle tuning that makes the best look even better!

Mercedes AMG builds some of the best looking, and best driving sports cars around, and it even dabbles with supercars. We’ve of course talking about the Mercedes-AMG GT. This German supercar is a punch in the face, wrapped in a body that looks like it wants to punch you in the face. The GT is available in varying states of tune, with the most hardcore being the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. Not only is the Black Series stupidly expensive, but it is also massively fast, and holds the record for the fastest production car around the Nurburgring. But German tuning company wheelsandmore has gotten its hands on one and has made it even more outrageous than before thanks to more power and a set of incredible center-locking wheels.

The wheels take center stage, surprisingly, as they form part of a new range created by wheelsandmore called “Underdock”. The central locking nut is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy and is even TUV approved. The main benefit of the new design is that the system can be changed from one vehicle to the next via an adapter instead of having to change the whole wheel hub, turning any vehicle into one that can accept center-locking wheels.

The wheels themselves are stunning twin-five spoke items forged from high-strength aluminum with contour-milled designs. They are extremely light and are available in an array of different colors. Sizewise, they measure 20 inches in diameter, but staggered fitment on the Black Series means they measure 9 inches wide on the front axle and 12 inches across at the rear, shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 racing tires measuring 285/30 and 335/30, respectively. The weight of each rim is between 20 and 26 pounds.

Not content with slapping on a nice set of wheels and calling it a day, wheelsandmore then went and tuned the AMG Black Series to new heights. The stock twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 generates a massive 720 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, but the tuner’s new control unit boosts these figures to 778 hp and 642 lb-ft. There is no claim as to whether it reduces the 0-60 mph sprint, which is a claimed 3.1 seconds in stock form, but the tune increases the top speed from 202 to 209 mph.

Performance is further enhanced by the unique wheel design which is said to reduce wheel deflection when cornering under high loads. The brakes have been beefed up too, with new carbon ceramic brake discs and special pads that boast a claimed 50% higher drag coefficient than stock. Clamping down on these discs are six-piston titanium brake calipers available in various colors.

No AMG is complete without a fabulous soundtrack, so interested buyers will also be keen to know that wheelsandmore is also working on a sports exhaust system, although no further details have been provided.
