Air Force 1953 M38A1
Being retired from the Air Force and long-time Jeep enthusiast I was wanting a project to occupy my spare time with so…I started searching for an old military Jeep to wrench on.
I found this Air Force M38A1 by accident while looking at an M170 Field ambulance that was for sale in Mesa AZ. In the ad’s photos of the M170, I noticed a blue M38A1 in the background that grabbed all of my attention. To make a long story short that’s what I ended up with.
It was an older rebuild that ran good with a good body and paint. It just needed TLC and finishing up. In addition to the initial purchase price, I have spent $1,300 so far with at least another 2K that I will put into it.
It’s a driving project that I am enjoying every day!
Editor’s Note: This Jeep is very nice, Richard. I had a 1953 M38A1 that wasn’t completely original, and I loved that thing. I wish I still owned it.
