Well, duh.

Lamborghinis are never going to be someone’s first choice for an off-road vehicle. Even if you were to turn the Urus SUV into something resembling an off-roader, there’s no doubt that it would be a compromised machine. But if you’re a little eclectic and like to push the boundaries of what cars are capable of, then the below video may be right up your alley. YouTuber HeavyDSparks decided to put tracks on a Lamborghini, and while an Urus would have been the closest to a sensible choice, the Lambo selected was an Aventador. As you can imagine, things didn’t end well.

Despite the tracks elevating the ride height of the Aventador, the deep powder of the landscape proves too much for the Italian exotic to handle. Supercars at the best of times can be finicky, and pushing them too hard results in overheating of critical components, causing the car to shut down so that it can cool and prevent damage to its sensitive powertrain. Well, being in icy climes does little to alleviate the problem when the surface is so slippery that the car is constantly spinning its wheels, or in this case, its tracks. Fortunately, the team had a Jeep Gladiator on hand, also outfitted with tracks and a winch, to pull the Lambo out of its cold grave on more than one occasion.

Although just four miles of driving were covered, and although one of the Lambo’s sprockets exploded, and although the team’s track-equipped Slingshot also didn’t make it out in one piece, it’s impressive that the Aventador’s AWD system and tricky automatic gearbox could run at all with such an extreme modification.

We don’t recommend taking such risks with a car that costs as much as this one does, but we’re happy someone else has done it, even if we only get to hear that glorious V12 sing a couple of times in the video. Makes you wonder though, what other extreme mods could be applied to cars that were never intended to receive them?
