A more affordable way to travel.
The latest generation Ford Expedition full-size SUV was an instant success for the automaker when it went on sale back in 2017 as a 2018 model. It was so popular the assembly line at the Kentucky Truck Plant had to increase production to meet demand twice. Today, a new package option has arrived and it’s aimed directly at those who lead an active lifestyle.
The 2021 Ford Expedition XL can now be equipped with the STX Package, which features exterior upgrades like a gloss-black five-bar grille and 18-inch Magnetic Metallic-painted cast-aluminum wheels. Interior appointments include an eight-inch LCD touchscreen with a number of systems, among them swipe capability, AppLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

There’s also tri-zone automatic climate control while SYNC 3 with voice recognition is also standard. A 4G LTE WiFi hotspot and four 12-volt outlets and several USB ports are also included. Drivers will appreciate the eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar and the second-row 40/20/40 split bench folds flat for a total of 104.6 cubic feet of cargo. There’s a cargo management system, protector, and net as well.
Under the hood lies the familiar 3.5-liter EcoBoost with 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive with an electronic limited-slip differential is another option.

Best-in-class towing of 9,300 pounds for 2WD models (9,200 for 4WD) is made possible by the Heavy-Duty Tow Package with Pro Trailer Backup Assist, a 3.73 rear axle, trailer brake, and heavy-duty radiator. A 23.2-gallon fuel tank and a Class IV trailer hitch receiver are standard equipment.
“The Expedition STX is perfect for families who lead an active lifestyle that requires the capability and space of a full-size SUV,” said Devin McParlane, Expedition brand manager. “They get all of the content they desire at an attractive price, plus a great appearance.” Pricing begins at $49,995 and dealerships are now accepting orders.
