Back in 1978,I became the owner of a brand new CJ-5 Renegade.
At the time, I chose the CJ-5 over the CJ-7 as I wanted my new Jeep to be as close (in spirit) to the military Jeeps I admired. Since there were no olive drab color options I chose brown as the next closest color. The Jeep (only – no AMC) dealer at the time had a brown Renegade on order and I selected that one.
I traded in my beater 1969 Pontiac LeMans and they gave me an AM-FM radio as payment! These photos were taken in 1978 and if you look closely at the interior shot, you’ll see the odometer had low miles at the time.
