Bought a 2010 2.8 CRD Wrangler with good service history. Drove it 7hrs home no issues. Consulted a mechanic next day about removing the (loud) custom snorkel. He looked under the hood and said the catch can filter was the wrong one and replaced with a release valve bottom. He also noted lots of oil and carbon gunk on sensors and mopped up box air filter and sprayed generously with brake cleaner (he asked his cohort to grab the brake cleaner).
I drove away, and got the 0299 code on the first hill.
3 mechanics have not been able to keep the code from returning, have replaced the MAP, the last one recommended an air intake clean as maintenance anyway and may help. Not only did it not help (code returned driving up first hill home) but the next morning it wouldn’t start.
Any familiarity, ideas, recommendations? Happy to give more detail.
