Now, all your stuff can come overlanding with you.
Overlanding involves driving a vehicle off-road to a remote location and camping for an extended period.
An ideal vehicle for this activity has plenty of off-road capability, space to sleep in, and store various essentials. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited easily fulfills the former, but the trunk fills up quickly when you start packing clothes for a long trip, plus some camping gear. That’s why Jeep has teamed up with Addax Overland to create a new overland trailer.
The Jeep-branded Edition by Addax Overland Trailer is inspired by military surveillance trailers, engineered by the team responsible for setting the world land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. It weighs just 850 pounds and can hold a 1,200-pound payload capacity. And because the trailer only measures five-by-six feet, it’s easy to store in a garage.
The Overland Trailer boasts an independent torsion axle suspension system yielding 17 inches of ground clearance. For reference, a Wrangler Rubicon only offers 10.8 inches. Even if that clearance isn’t enough, the body should stand up to impacts thanks to a 3/16-inch military-grade steel chassis and 14-gauge steel body.
Inside, the trailer offers 35 cubic feet of storage, which is a little more than you get behind the rear seats in a Wrangler Unlimited. Other valuable features include a foldable tongue, articulating hitch, rear receiver hitch, four 8,000-pound stabilizing jacks, and a heavy-duty mounting rack for additional storage. It can even be used to mount a tent.
