  3. Jeep Wrangler Brings Back Punk’n Orange Paint Just In Time For Halloween

A “Jeep o’Lantern,” if you will.

Orange is definitely a color that needs to match the car it goes on. You can’t paint a Civic orange. It’s just not right. A sports car? Sure. Or, in this case, a Jeep Wrangler. For a while there, you actually couldn’t paint your Wrangler orange. At least, not from the factory.

Jeep is changing that with the reintroduction of one of our favorite Wrangler shades: Punk’n Orange. We previewed this particular shade on our Gladiator test car and found it to suit the truck. To reuse the above analogy, an orange Jeep lands on the “Lamborghini” side of the scale.

Jeep originally offered the festive shade from 2018 to 2020, when it removed the color from the Wrangler lineup. Evidently, the paint was still floating around, which is why our Gladiator test car came with it. Unfortunately, Jeep won’t permanently bring Punk’n back to the lineup.

Instead, Jeep will make this a limited time, for all 2023 MY Wranglers. Presumably, as Jeep hasn’t provided a more specific timeline, that means the color will again depart at the end of the 2023 MY. A shame, but at least Jeep offers plenty of other fantastic colors for the Wrangler and other models.

“Bringing back Punk’n right around Halloween is a great time to relaunch this confident and custom color on the iconic Jeep Wrangler,” said Jim Morrison, senior VP and head of Jeep brand North America. “Like other special-run colors for Wrangler, Punk’n appeals to a huge enthusiast following because it’s authentic, inspiring and bold, much like the Jeep community.”

The shade will be slightly more expensive than other optional Jeep colors, which usually start at $395. Punk’n will run you $695, presumably to offset the additional cost Jeep is incurring by bringing the color back for a limited run. It is available on all Wranglers, from the base Sport to the Wrangler 392.
