  3. Lucid’s Dealer Network Grows With New Premium Studios

Those thinking of purchasing an Air may just be swayed by the upmarket dealer experience.

With elegant styling and an avant-garde interior, the Lucid Air is undoubtedly one of the classiest EVs out there. It’s also one of the quickest; it can’t quite keep up with the mighty Model S Plaid, but we’re guessing the average Air driver could care less. However, Lucid Motors is still looking to lure performance-minded buyers and will most certainly do so with the newly-launched, 1,050-horsepower GT Performance.

These buyers will expect a premium buying experience and, as such, Lucid has opened up additional dealerships – or studios, in Lucid speak. The new locations will bring the total amount of studio and service locations in North America to 26.

“Our Studios [in] Boston and Manhasset will increase our physical footprint in a market where we see growing demand for electric vehicles – the Northeast. These new locations position Lucid next to like-minded, luxury brands and expose us to potential customers who might be discovering the brand for the first time,” said Lucid Motors VP of service and sales, Zak Edson.

The traditional car-buying experience has had to make space for unique alternatives. Lincoln, for example, has had great success with its upscale boutique retailer. Lucid Motors is looking to do the same in its new locations. Described as a “digitally-oriented luxury experience,” customers can expert an upmarket experience whether they make online inquiries, visit the dealership in person, or combine the two.

It seems an in-person visit brings about the best experience. Visiting a Lucid Studio allows would-be buyers to glean insights into the company’s vision and various sources of inspiration. A 4K VR configurator permits discerning customers to personalize the Air, from the paint finish to interior finishes and materials.

If you’d prefer to explore the Air from the comfort of your own home, Lucid Studio Live allows customers to interact with the car virtually while a company consultant carefully guides them through the various options and key features.

While the expansion is hugely exciting for the brand, 26 dealers won’t make a big enough impact. Fierce rival Tesla has a notably bigger network, but Lucid won’t let that get them down. While no details have been given, the company has said it plans to expand its presence both in North America and globally. Elsewhere, Lucid Motors has said the chip crisis and resultant supply issues have affected the production outlook.

Previously, the EV maker had aimed to manufacture 20,000 units; that has since been reduced to 12,000-14,000 vehicles. Hopefully, the development of the Casa Grande facility will aid in upping those numbers, along with the new production facility planned for Saudi Arabia. The company’s CFO, Sherry House, said the new plant could result in up to $3.4 billion of value for Lucid in the next 15 years.
