The HR-V keeps its practical roots.
Following the success of the 11th generation Civic, Honda showed off its latest subcompact crossover. The 2023 Honda HR-V made its design debut earlier this month after a brief teaser campaign, but we were only given a look at its exterior. That means we didn’t get to see any pictures of how its cabin would step up compared to the outgoing model. Honda is rectifying that today by teasing the 2023 HR-V’s flexible cabin storage. Unfortunately, these new photos only tease pieces of the interior, not the entire thing. Honda says more details will come closer to launch during the “Year of the Honda SUV.”
Along with a brief video showing the HR-V cargo area, Honda published a few images showing how owners might fill that area.

One image shows the HR-V carrying a trunk full of camping equipment and the other shows a couple fitting a large outdoor chair into the cargo area with the seats folded. This may be a subcompact SUV, but it will still be practical.
We will have to wait for Honda to publish the official measurements, but the HR-V has long been one of the more spacious vehicles in its size class. A closer image shows the full cargo area with the rear seats folded, which looks comparable in size to the outgoing model. It appears like the second row doesn’t fold as flat as the previous HR-V, though that could be the angle playing tricks on our eyes. We hope Honda carries over its flip-up Magic Seats from the old model because it was among our favorite features.

The final teaser image shows off the revised center console, which retains the lower storage area now positioned further back towards the driver. We assume the cupholders are positioned above this area with a small storage bin ahead of the shifter. From the cargo area image, we get a blurry glimpse at the new HR-V’s dashboard, which will likely share a few elements from the new Civic. Honda’s next teaser will likely show off more of the front seat area, including the infotainment system. We’ve previously seen the system used in the new HR-V in overseas markets but the USDM HR-V is different. It has been built specifically for America, so we may see different tech from what other markets get.
Details such as the powertrain have yet to be revealed.
