Because you’re driving a brick, that’s been moved higher up making it more of a brick. The larger tires make it take a hit too, and the cold air intake makes hitting the skinny pedal more fun, so you probably do that a bit more, and more aggressively as well.
Your driving style can probably be modified, specifically don’t accelerate as aggressively as is likely after a cold air intake gets installed. Beyond that, check the air pressure in your tires. Higher air pressure (but not over inflated) will cut back on your rolling resistance and get you a little better milage. But if you head to the trails you’ll be that much more likely to want to air down, which is fine, so long as you go back up when you’re done.
Beyond that, there’s not a ton you can do. Fuel efficiency is no where in the design of these things until the JL came out. Even then…it’s still a brick, just a slightly more slippery one.
